Active and Effective listening

“Hearing is a miracle, and far too complex and extraordinary to be taken for granted the way we do”.

-

In a very famous book “the Four agreements” that mentioned 4 important rules of life from Toltec civilization, the very first agreement is THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE and also the most difficult one to honour.

“BE IMPECCABLE WITH YOUR WORD”. - It sounds very simple, but it’s very vert powerful.

I just randomly think about this book and this agreement while thinking about “How to listen”, as listening and speaking are 100% related to each other from my point of view. Listening skills are honed through experiences, and what we SAY can have serious consequences.

As for speaking, the important thing to remember is what we need to pay close attention to the words that come out of our mouths. since they greatly influence what people think of us.

People love to debate how much of our strengths and weaknesses are determined by genetics. Naturally, our aptitude for listening and speaking has also entered into this discussion. However, research has shown that our ability to listen is determined more by our personal experiences than our genes.

Some research also shows that there’s an emotional component to our listening skills. For example, when a couple in the honeymoon phase of their relationship, they tend to be much more open and intent in their willingness to listen.

And here are some links aboutt “Listening skill”:
